MY RATING Summary
This blog is not so much about Lassie the Collie, the movie and Tv series. But it’s more about Pal, the real-life Lassie, who was the first Collie Dog, who played the beloved Lassie.
For those, who don’t know him, let’s just say that he’s like the Marlon Brando of dog acting. A legend in the business who deserved his Hollywood Star.

- Pal was a Collie Dog who played and was the original Lassie in several films and TV series from 1943 to 1954.
- Not only is he one of the most famous canines in entertainment history but also considered one of the best dog actors ever. So exceptional with his acting that it brought tears to the eyes of director Fred Wilcox.
- During the audition, only Pal could perform their test convincingly, which is crossing a river.
- The character Lassie is a female but played by a male because they have more dramatically thick furs.
- Owned and trained by Rudd Weatherwax, who loved him so much that wanted to be buried near Pal.
- Lassie the Collie was played by other dogs after Pal, but they had to learn to mimic his signature bark.
- Only three animals have a Star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Guess who’s one of them?
