MY RATING Summary
Meet Pesto, one of the most viral pets in 2024, along with Moo Deng the Hippo.
It might be the wrong timing to be viral, as many were caught up by the cuteness of the Thai Hippopotamus.
But I think that Pesto was probably more popular in his home country, Down Under.
He’s a fluffy brown baby penguin that you just wish you could squeeze and use his tummy as a pillow or something.
And with his age as the youngest, he looks like he’s the largest of all the Penguins, which is quite funny.
Even outgrew his parents and totally stood out from the penguin crowd.
I wonder what they were thinking every time he passed by.

KEY INFORMATION about King Penguins
What They Are
Baby penguins, also known as chicks, are born covered in soft, fluffy down feathers that help keep them warm until their waterproof adult feathers grow in.
Appearance
They often have round bodies, big eyes, and gray or brown fluffy coats, giving them an irresistibly cute, plush look.
Common Species
-
Emperor Penguins – Gray fluff with black-and-white faces
-
Adélie Penguins – Silky gray down as chicks
-
Gentoo Penguins – Gray and white puffballs with tiny flippers
Growth
Chicks stay in nests or under parental care for warmth and protection. Around 1–3 months, they begin to molt and develop sleek adult feathers.
Parenting
Both penguin parents typically take turns feeding and keeping the chick warm by balancing it on their feet under a brood pouch.
Fun Fact
Fluffy penguin chicks form “crèches” (baby penguin groups) for safety and warmth when parents go off to feed.
