MY RATING Summary
This pet story is such a tearjerker and might be one of the saddest dramas I have ever seen.
If you haven’t heard of this sad story before, then read no further but instead watch the original Japanese movie from 1987 called Hachi-ko or the American remake from 2009 by Richard Gere called Hachi: A Dog’s Tale. And I just found out that there’s another remake from China called Hachiko.

TRIVIA
- Hachiko from Japan was known to be the Most Loyal Dog for loyalty to Professor Hidesaburō Ueno. They used to walk together to Shibuya Station and would wait the whole day for him to return from work.
- Sadly, Professor Ueno passed away while at work. Still, Hachiko waited for nearly 10 years for his owner to come back to him.
- He died heartbroken in the streets and always had a sad face. (Check photo)
- This event touched the hearts of the Japanese people and Hachiko became a symbol of loyalty, faithfulness, and devotion.
- A bronze statue of Hachiko was made at Shibuya Station, where it’s now a tourist attraction. The original statue was melted down during World War II but it was rebuilt again by the son of the original sculptor.
- Hachiko was preserved through taxidermy after his death and is displayed at the National Museum of Nature and Science in Japan.
- Professor Ueno and Hachiko’s ashes are buried alongside each other at Aoyama Cemetery.
