- He doesn’t bite: His owner, Joie Henney, has handled alligators for over three decades and says Wally is the only one he has encountered who refuses to bite, even allowing people to rub his tongue.
- He sleeps in his owner’s bed: Wally is treated much like a dog; he has free run of the house, sleeps in the same bed as Henney, and even steals his pillows and blankets.
- He was the visual reference for Alligator Loki: The visual effects team for the Disney+ series Loki used Wally as the real-world model for the character Alligator Loki.
- He loves chin rubs and hugs: Unlike typical alligators, Wally enjoys being petted and hugged and has a very laid-back personality.
- He enjoys specific treats: His favorite treats are reportedly cheese puffs and raw chicken.
- He’s a true Pennsylvanian: Wally lives with Henney in Jonestown, Pennsylvania, where it is legal to own alligators as pets (provided they aren’t released into the wild).
- He was a rescue: Henney rescued Wally from a lagoon in Florida at about 14 months old after a friend found him.
- He helps people with disabilities: Henney often takes Wally to schools and senior centers. At one visit, a boy with Tourette’s syndrome reportedly stopped his tics while petting Wally.
