MY RATING Summary

Without the Togo movie that came out in 2019, I wouldn’t have known about this former unsung hero. But finally, this legendary Siberian Husky is getting his well-deserved flowers.
It’s a great movie that I can highly recommend, but make sure to get some tissues as it will make you cry (minor spoilers)

Don’t get me wrong, Balto who was just a rookie pup deserved his credit, too. His team had to pass a very lethal blizzard to get over the line.
And then you have “Fox”, the other lead dog whose name wasn’t headliner material for the press. And Fritz, the lead dog partner and half-brother of Togo The Husky of the Leonhard team.
What about the sled dogs who died along the way?

Let’s just praise them all. They are all heroes.

TRIVIA

• Togo The Husky is one of the sled dog heroes of the Alaska Serum Run to Nome in 1925 when they had to deliver diphtheria antitoxin against an outbreak.
  Led by his musher Leonhard Seppala, they traveled the longest distance of 260 miles (418 kilometers) out of 674 miles, which was shared by 20 other mushers with their sled dogs.
• Born and raised to one of the best Husky breeders and mushers at that time, Mr. Seppala himself. Already from a young age, Togo The Husky proved himself to be an upcoming Top sled dog leader.
• This legend was known for his incredible endurance, strength, intelligence, speed, and strong will, often outpacing other musher teams. So it was his calling to cover as much terrain as possible during the run.
• Even though Balto got credited for being the Poster Boy of the Alaska Serum Run Sled Dogs, Togo is now getting his deserved Hero Dog recognition for doing most of the hard work.
• Togo retired from being a sled dog after that devastating trip that killed many other sled dogs. He almost worked himself to death and deserved to rest in his last days.
• Seppala’s Siberian Husky Breed and Genes were very popular and Togo, the wonder dog, has a lot to do with that.
